Dora Ponce Willeford was the first female deputy for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. Dora served the citizens of Ventura County from 1949 - 1980. She worked a variety of assignments including patrol, investigations, and detention services. Dora was also the first female deputy assigned to the Ventura County Superior Court as a bailiff.
Her vast and diversified experience was equaled by only a few women in the nation during her time of service. Dora pioneered the way for many more women to join and work in law enforcement today.
