“AAPI heritage month provides recognition to my Vietnamese immigrant parents and their contributions to the vibrant culture of this country. I have the privilege to live my dreams provided by the sacrifices of my immigrant parents.
My father served in Vietnam, fighting for his freedoms and fled to this country to provide my brother and I opportunities he would have never had.
I am lucky to serve Ventura County as a firefighter to be an example of a first generation Vietnamese-American rooted from perseverance, work ethic and resilience. Ventura County has given me the opportunity to influence and contribute to the freedoms that were given to my parents in America.”
