The 10th annual Ventura Farm Day, set for Saturday, November 5, is seeking sponsors. During Farm Day, more than 14 Ventura County farms and agricultural businesses open their doors and invite the public to learn how their food is grown. This year’s theme is “Meet all the hands that feed you.”
“Since Farm Day began 10 years ago, 48,000 people have toured farms and ag-related companies throughout Ventura County,” says Mary Maranville, founder and CEO of Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG), the nonprofit that organizes Farm Day. “It’s an opportunity for the public to get a better understanding of the food-growing process. Visitors come away appreciating the hard work that goes into producing the food they eat. It’s a fun, unique learning experience for all ages.”
Ventura County Farm Day sponsors already participating include Driscoll’s, Gene Haas Foundation, Reiter Affiliated Companies, Ventura County Ag Commissioner, Bobalu Berries, Farm Credit West, Ventura County Credit Union, Ventura County Executive Offices and Brokaw Nursery.

Founded in 2008, Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG) is a nonprofit organization that aims to help the public and young students understand the origins of their food by bridging the gap between agriculture and consumption through its agricultural community events and education programming. SEEAG’s “The Farm Lab” program based in Ventura County teaches schoolchildren about the origins of their food and the importance of local farmland by providing schools with classroom agricultural education and free field trips to farms. Through this and other SEEAG programs, over 60,000 elementary school students in Central and Southern California have increased their understanding of the food journey.
