Sandra Aldana, adjunct professor in Cal Lutheran’s Public Health Program, will lead a conversation about disability inclusion issues in our society. She will highlight how people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities. This discussion will raise awareness about the inclusion of people with disabilities in all facets of community life, as well as awareness of the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live. She also will share her experiences related to the need for supportive and inclusive healthcare, social service, educational and employment policies and associated practices.
Aldana is a former governor’s appointee, serving as the Central Coast Representative to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities and is the current Ventura County Representative to the Consumer Advisory Committee of the University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
This event is open to the public. The presentation will be held indoors and masks are required.
